Explore Your Passions and Dreams: Your Passion May Be Leading You to Your Purpose

Think about the moments in your life that have brought you joy—the things you could do for hours and somehow lose track of time. Maybe it is something that feels natural to you. Something that gives you peace, excitement, or a sense of accomplishment when you finish.
Maybe you draw or paint. How do you feel when you step back and look at the piece you created?
Maybe you make music, sing, write, build things, cook, teach, encourage people, serve others, or create something from an idea that once existed only in your mind.
How does it feel when you finish?
There is something special about seeing something come to life through a gift God has given you. And it can become even more meaningful when someone else notices it and says, “That helped me,” “That encouraged me,” or “That touched my life.” To God be the glory!
Sometimes those moments are clues pointing us toward something greater.
Your Passion May Be Pointing to Your Purpose
Our passions were not meant to sit on a shelf collecting dust.
God has given each of us different gifts, abilities, experiences, and opportunities. When we surrender those things to Him, our passions can become tools He uses to accomplish His purpose.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10
Think about that for a moment.
You are God's handiwork.
There is purpose behind the person He created you to be. Your gifts may look different from someone else's, and that is okay. You do not have to have someone else's calling to make an impact for God's Kingdom.
Romans 12:6 reminds us:
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” — Romans 12:6
The question becomes: What are we doing with the gifts God has given us?
Sometimes Your Purpose Is Connected to Your Story
Part of my testimony goes all the way back to my childhood.
When I was a child, my mother and I experienced homelessness. We lived on the streets and stayed in different shelters. We did not have much, but there is something about my mother that I still remember.
She gave anyway.
My mother was always kind to others. Even when she had little herself, if she had an opportunity to bless someone else who was in need, she would.
As a child, I admired that about her.
At the time, I didn't fully understand what God would eventually do with what I was witnessing. But looking back now, I can see that a seed was being planted in my life.
That seed eventually grew into a passion.
A passion to help people.
A passion to serve those in need.
A passion to share the love of Jesus Christ.
A passion to remind people that their circumstances do not determine their value and that God still has a purpose for their lives.
Eventually, that passion became more than a dream.
I began to understand what God was calling me to do.
There is something incredibly refreshing and exciting about discovering your identity in Christ and beginning to understand your calling.
It is that moment when you can say:
“God, I understand why You placed this in my heart.”
True Will Is God's Will
That is part of the heart behind True Will Ministries.
True Will is not simply about pursuing what we want. True Will is God's will.
Jesus taught us to pray:
“Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” — Matthew 6:10
Our desire should be for our passions, dreams, gifts, and plans to align with His will.
God can use a musician.
He can use an artist.
He can use a teacher.
He can use someone who loves helping children.
He can use someone who enjoys cooking.
He can use someone with a heart for people experiencing homelessness.
He can use someone who loves technology, business, sports, writing, photography, construction, or encouraging others.
Your passion does not have to look like someone else's ministry to make an impact for God's Kingdom.
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31
When we place our gifts in God's hands, something ordinary can become something extraordinary.
What Has God Placed in Your Heart?
Take some time and ask yourself:
What am I passionate about?
What gifts has God given me?
What brings me joy and gives me a sense of purpose?
What problems in the world deeply affect my heart?
How could God use what I love to impact someone else's life and advance His Kingdom?
Write your answers down.
Then pray over them.
Ask God:
“Lord, how can You use this?”
Maybe there is already a dream in your heart, but you have been afraid to pursue it.
You may even look at that dream and think:
There is no way.
I don't have enough money.
I don't know the right people.
I'm not qualified.
I don't know where to begin.
But with God, what looks impossible to us is not impossible to Him.
“For no word from God will ever fail.” — Luke 1:37
Take the First Step
You do not have to know every step before taking the first one.
Sometimes faith simply means saying, “God, I don't know exactly how this is going to happen, but I trust You enough to start walking.”
Proverbs 3:5–6 tells us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Take one step.
Write down the vision.
Make the phone call.
Start creating.
Serve someone.
Volunteer.
Have the conversation.
Start the ministry.
Use the gift.
God can open doors you never expected. He can connect you with people who believe in the vision He placed in your heart. He can provide resources you did not know were available. He can redirect you when necessary and guide your steps along the way.
But you have to be willing to move.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3
Your responsibility is not to have everything figured out.
Your responsibility is to trust God, seek His will, and faithfully take the next step He places in front of you.
Don't Leave Your Gift on the Shelf
There may be something inside of you right now that God wants to use.
A passion.
A gift.
A dream.
An experience from your past.
Even something painful that God has redeemed and can now use to help someone else.
Don't automatically dismiss it because it seems too small or because the dream seems too big.
Pray about it.
Write it down.
Ask God how it can be used for His glory.
Then take a step of faith.
You may discover that the passion God placed inside of you has been pointing toward your purpose all along.
And one day, you may look back at where you started and realize that every step, every connection, every open door, and even parts of your story were being used by God to lead you exactly where He wanted you to be.
“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me.” — Psalm 138:8
So dream.
Create.
Serve.
Give.
Love.
And most importantly—take the step.
Because when your passion aligns with God's will, it can become something He uses to impact lives for His Kingdom.
His Will. True Will. ❤️
